Special Topic Conference: The special topic conference will focus on healthcare innovations and point-of-care technologies and their clinical translation to address challenges in global quality healthcare. The proposed conference will provide an international forum with clinicians, healthcare providers, industry experts, innovators, researchers and students to define clinical needs and technology solutions towards commercialization and translation to clinical applications across different environments and infrastructures. Panel discussions and open forum sessions along with research presentations will focus on the development, clinical translational, commercialization, implementation and user-compliance of innovative healthcare and point-of-care technologies in clinical (hospital, emergency, acute, chronic and primary care), non-traditional (consumer) and under-resourced settings.
The conference will provide a forum for all stakeholders in healthcare to elucidate the barriers and challenges in the broad delivery of quality, accurate, and affordable health care. Features include discussions on the role of point-of-care diagnostic systems in quality global healthcare from the perspectives of all stakeholders, especially in underserved and under-resourced populations; and barriers and challenges to adoption and mechanisms by which innovative technologies can be collectively addressed and overcome by collaboration across all stakeholders for quality global healthcare. Through panel discussions and breakout sessions, the conference will also provide opportunities for stakeholders to explore collaborations and synergies to accelerate healthcare system development, validation, deployment and adoption in a manner consistent with the needs of the stakeholder groups, and to achieve the overall goal of improving healthcare at affordable cost.
Conference themes would include a topical coverage of (but not limited to):
- Healthcare Innovations: Devices, Systems and Services with applications to monitoring, diagnosis, therapeutic, surgical, emergency care and interventional protocols.
- Point-Of-Care (POC) Technologies Clinical Translational of Healthcare Innovations and POC technologies
- Compliance and Acceptance of POC Technologies
- Evidence-based Medicine
- Personalized, Preventive and Precision Medicine
- mHealth Innovations
- Wireless Communications and device data control and fusion
- Critical Care
- Medical and Healthcare Data Communication, Security, Privacy
- Infrastructure Independent Care
- Integration of innovations and point of care diagnostic devices into systems of healthcare
- Regulatory challenges (US and International)
- Global Healthcare Challenges
Who Should Attend: All researchers, clinicians and students engaged in scientific and clinical research related to healthcare applications are invited to attend. All stakeholders in healthcare innovations, delivery, maintenance, services and management are specifically encouraged to participate in the conference. Industries and businesses dealing with healthcare products, devices, pharma and payers, along with life-sciences related sponsoring agencies and foundations are welcome to participate in the collaborative synergy addressing future of healthcare innovations and point-of-care technologies in medicine.
We are pleased to invite 4-pages manuscripts in IEEE double column format for consideration of presentation in any of the above healthcare and POC technologies related areas. All manuscripts will be peer reviewed through the conference editorial board. The accepted papers will be scheduled for oral (platform) or poster presentations. Accepted and presented papers will be published in the conference proceedings and submitted to IEEE Xplore as well as other Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) databases. Clinical investigations and late-breaking innovation based manuscripts may be submitted in one-page extended summary format that will be included, if accepted for presentation, in the online program book but only 4-page accepted papers will be published in conference proceedings in IEEE Xplore.
Expanded manuscripts with additional significant results and contributions along with emphasis on translational engineering will be considered for publication in the special issue of open-access IEEE Journal of Translational Engineering in Health and Medicine focused on HI_POCT conference themes in January 2015.
